About the Role As our Assistant Meat Manager, youll work alongside the Meat Manager to keep our meat department running smoothly. From expertly cutting and preparing meats to mentoring staff and ensuring every order is perfect, youll be at the heart of making customers grocery experiences special. This is a hands-on, fun, and rewarding leadership position where no two days are ever the same! What Youll Be Doing Cutting and preparing all types of meat with skill and precision using knives, bandsaws, and other tools. Receiving shipments and making sure all products are fresh, priced correctly, and rotated properly. Leading your team with care, training staff, and making sure everyone operates safely. Managing department expenses, reducing waste, and helping the store meet budget goals. Ensuring compliance with all safety, sanitation, and labeling regulations. Greeting customers warmly and helping with special orders to make their experience the best it can be Jumping in wherever needed to keep the department organized, efficient, and inviting. What Were Looking For High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years managing a meat department in a grocery or retail environment. Expert butchering skills with all tools, including bandsaws. Flexible and dependableyou can work nights, weekends, and holidays. Passion for high-quality products, food safety, and customer service. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to inspire a team. Experience hiring, training, and mentoring staff. Physical & Work Environment Be prepared to move, bend, lift, and stay active throughout your shift. Lifting up to 30 lbs regularly, with occasional heavier items handled with assistance. Work in a variety of temperatures, from freezers to prep areas.
