The News Director is responsible for writing and producing, reporting, scheduling and managing local news broadcasts and public affairs programs. Requirements include the ability to identify relevant news of local importance, develop news stories and public affairs programs that address local issues, demonstrate excellent writing skills and establish a good working relationship with local authorities and community leaders. Additionally, the News Director must have good interpersonal and communication skills to foster a harmonious working relationship with members of the NMB team. Enhanced computer skills and knowledge of digital editing tools are a definite plus and required for multimedia production, copywriting and information updates utilized on-air, on-line and mobile applications. In addition to writing and updating news, the news director should be able to coordinate efforts to assure news department has a strong presence in the community. News writing experience is a required and aspiring Multimedia Journalists are encouraged to apply. Must be able to demonstrate quality News writing and on On-Air delivery, digital and multimedia skills, and, most importantly, show an active interest in the local community. Play-by-Play skills are a definite Plus with the added opportunity for additional compensation.
