Job Description
*Process & Packaging Engineer – Pharmacy Operations*
*Remote with travel to U.S. based facilities*
*Contract*
 About the Role
We are seeking a *Process & Packaging Engineer* to support our high-volume pharmacy operations and help optimize packaging, cold chain logistics, and process improvements across multiple sites. This role will focus on solving real-world operational challenges—reducing over-engineered packaging, improving cold chain shipping efficiency, and driving lean manufacturing practices—while balancing regulatory requirements and cost effectiveness.
The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing or distribution engineering experience, with exposure to packaging design, lean process improvement, and temperature-controlled supply chains. Pharmacy or healthcare experience is a plus but not required.
 Key Responsibilities
* Lead engineering initiatives to *optimize cold chain packaging*, balancing compliance, cost, and labor efficiency.
* Partner with internal teams and external vendors to *streamline packaging designs* (reducing size/variability, evaluating alternatives).
* Support rollout of *script pack replacement technologies* and assist in vendor evaluation/implementation.
* Apply *lean principles* (value stream mapping, station redesign, water spiders, etc.) to improve throughput and reduce waste.
* Provide *process engineering support* for the launch of the new Florida facility and ongoing site operations in Ohio and Arizona.
* Collaborate with maintenance, controls, and mechanical engineering teams to integrate practical solutions into existing brownfield operations.
* Participate in *vendor and partner engagements*, offering technical expertise and ensuring alignment with operational needs.
* Develop documentation, SOPs, and validation processes to ensure compliance with healthcare/pharmacy regulations.
 Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Packaging, or related field).
* 5+ years of experience in *manufacturing, distribution, or packaging engineering*; pharma/healthcare preferred but not required.
* Demonstrated success with *lean process improvement and operational efficiency projects*.
* Experience with *cold chain, temperature-sensitive, or high-value shipments* strongly preferred.
* Strong problem-solving, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Ability to work hands-on in high-volume operations while also driving strategic improvements.
 Why Join Us
* Opportunity to make a *direct impact* on how millions of prescriptions are safely packaged and shipped.
* Work at the intersection of *manufacturing innovation and healthcare delivery*.
* Be part of a team committed to *lean improvements, smarter packaging, and scalable operations*—not over-engineering.
* Collaborative culture with internal engineering support and external partnerships.
